Crux Pflugerville Design

Back in 2024, my sweet cousin Grace (who also happens to be the COO of Crux Climbing Gym) reached out to see if I’d be interested in helping furnish the new Pflugerville Gym. You might remember my post from September about getting back into rock climbing—so the chance to merge my love for climbing with my passion for interior design had me doing a little shoulder shimmy from excitement.

I jumped right into sourcing, focusing on budget-friendly yet high-quality pieces that could stand up to the wear and tear of a climbing gym—especially the inevitable chalk dust. The first space I tackled was the gaming lounge, envisioned as a cozy hangout where climbers could relax, connect, and maybe battle it out over a vintage Nintendo 64 game. (It feels wild calling an N64 vintage since I grew up playing one. Does that make me vintage? Don’t answer that.)

After putting together a few design concepts and mood boards, Grace landed on this direction as her favorite! The space features a comfy mustard-yellow sofa, two easy-to-clean accent chairs, a sturdy coffee table, and a media console to house the N64 and games. To soften the space and bring in a touch of nature, we layered in greenery and plants, making it feel both inviting and lively.

This project was such a joy to work on—not just because it blended two of my biggest passions, but because it was for a space that brings people together. I loved every step of the process and can only hope more opportunities like this come my way in the future!
